Leicester Curve’s critically-acclaimed 2018 production of Irving Berlin’s White Christmas will return for a festive season at London’s Dominion Theatre.
Presented by Jamie Wilson, Mark Goucher, Gavin Kalin and Kevin McCollum, the Made at Curve production will play a limited season in the capital from 15 November 2019 until 4 January 2020.
Curve’s Sunset Boulevard star Danny Mac will return to the role of showman Bob Wallace, the part famously played by Bing Crosby in the much-loved 1950s movie. He will re-create his central partnership with Olivier-nominated Dan Burton (Gypsy, Savoy Theatre) who will reprise his performance of Phil Davis, Wallace’s friend and pro-partner famously played by Danny Kaye in the film. Further casting will be announced at a later date.
Reuniting Curve’s award-winning artistic director Nikolai Foster with double Olivier Award-winning choreographer Stephen Mear, the production debuted at Curve in December 2018.
The production’s set design is by Michael Taylor with costume design by Diego Pitarch, musical supervision by Stephen Brooker, lighting design by Mark Henderson and sound design by Tom Marshall. Orchestrations are by Larry Blank with new musical arrangements by Jason Carr.
Based on the much-loved 1954 Paramount Pictures film, White Christmas boasts music and lyrics by Irving Berlin and a book by David Ives and Paul Blake. Written for the screen by Norman Krasna, Norman Panama and Melvin Frank, the stage version debuted in 2000 in St Louis.
Curve’s version of the musical is based on the original stage production directed by Walter Bobbie which debuted on Broadway in 2008. The show first appeared in the UK as a touring production in 2007, and debuted in the West End in 2014.
