Daniel Fish’s innovative 2019 Tony Award-winning revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein’s much-loved Oklahoma! will begin preview performances at London’s Wyndham’s Theatre on 16 February 2023 ahead of an opening night on 28 February 2023.
Presented by Eva Price, Sonia Friedman Productions and Michael Harrison in association with the Young Vic, the Bard SummerScape production of Oklahoma! – winner of the 2019 Tony Award for Best Musical Revival – is transferring to the West End following the production’s recent sold-out run at the Young Vic.
With booking now open, the producers have set aside a number of £10 tickets for Monday-Wednesday performances to be offered directly to those currently under-represented in West End theatre audiences. The tickets are being made available through an outreach programme run by Sita McIntosh of Inclusive Audiences.
Re-orchestrated and re-imagined for the 21st century, Fish’s version of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein’s first musical features orchestrations, arrangements and music supervision by Daniel Kluger, choreography by John Heginbotham, scenic design by Lael Jellinek and Grace Laubacher, costume design by Terese Wadden, lighting design by Scott Zielinski, sound design by Drew Levy and projection design by Joshua Thorson, with co. music supervision and additional vocal arrangements by Nathan Koci.
Based on the 1939 play Green Grow the Lilacs by Lynn Riggs, Oklahoma! was first seen on Broadway in 1943. The production featured original choreography by Agnes de Mille. First seen in the West End in 1947, the musical was famously made into an Oscar-winning 1955 film. The enduringly popular musical has been revived on Broadway and in the West End numerous times.
