David Burt and Richard Dempsey lead the cast of Antic Disposition’s A Christmas Carol
West End and Olivier Award-nominated star David Burt will re-create his critically acclaimed performance as Ebenezer Scrooge in Antic Disposition’s popular musical adaptation of Charles Dickens’ timeless A Christmas Carol for the fifth time this festive period.
First staged in 2012, the show which will return to the spectacular setting of London’s Middle Temple Hall from 20-29 December 2022, will feature Burt (Les Misérables, Evita, Cats, Jesus Christ Superstar) in the central role alongside cast newcomer Richard Dempsey. Fresh from his role in Tammy Faye at The Almeida Theatre, Dempsey (Into The Woods, Fame) will play Bob Cratchit.
Playing over 40 characters, the cast of actor-musicians also includes: Megan Ashley (Belle), Michaela Bennison (The Ghost of Christmas Past), McCallam Connell (The Ghost of Christmas Present), Ayrton English (Tiny Tim), Emma Fenney (Mrs Cratchit), Lucy Ford (Martha Cratchit), Dylan Hall (Tiny Tim), Richard Holt (The Ghost of Jacob Marley), Jack Heydon (Fred) and Matt Whipps (Peter Cratchit).
First performed in Middle Temple Hall in 2012 Antic Disposition’s family-friendly version of the much-loved story tale of Scrooge and his ghostly visitors is now firmly established as one of the capital’s favourite festive treats. Revised and expanded in 2017, the production combines the story of Scrooge’s eventful night of ghostly encounters with original songs inspired by the carols of a traditional Victorian Christmas.
The classic story was adapted for the stage by Antic Disposition’s artistic directors and founders Ben Horslen and John Risebero. The production features a score composed and arranged by Nick Barstow. The creative team also includes designer John Risebero, musical director Ben Everett-Riley, sound designer Theo Holloway, choreographer Richard Jones and children’s director Rosie Williamson.
