The full cast has been confirmed for the eagerly awaited 10th anniversary tour of the critically acclaimed and crowd-pleasing British musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.
As previously announced, Urdang Academy graduate Ashcon Rahmani and Olivier Award winner Rebecca Trehearn will play Jamie and Margaret New. They will be joined by Kelle Bryan will take on the role of Miss Hedge from Leeds to Southampton and Joanne Clifton who will play Miss Hedge in Cheltenham through until Newcastle, with Divina De Campo as Hugo/Loco Chanelle.
Looking forward to joining the production, Bryan (Bouncers, Berkley Players, My Fair Lady, Manchester Palace Theatre) said: “I’m so delighted to take on this iconic musical role! Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is so relatable, relevant and heartfelt, but also fun and full of sass. I can’t wait to step into Miss Hedge’s fabulous red shoes and bring some ‘Edge to Hedge!’”
Clifton (Fawlty Towers, UK tour, Shrek, Eventim Apollo/UK tour) added: “I’m really looking forward to bringing Miss Hedge to life for our brilliant audiences! This role is a casting dream, and I can’t wait to join such a talented team of performers and makers for the show’s tenth anniversary! What an honour! Now CALM DOWN YEAR 11 and book your tickets QUICK!”
The new Hugo/Loco Chanelle, De Campo (Chicago, UK tour, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Leeds Playhouse) commented: “ This show is so very special. Jamie’s amazing story – and the beautiful characters within – have impacted audiences world-over for a decade now. I’m excited to follow in the footsteps of some amazing past performers, and to bring Loco Chanelle into a new and glittering light.”
Announcing the new additions to the cast, producer Nica Burns said: “We are delighted to announce our wonderful new stars Kelle Bryan, Joanne Clifton and Divina di Campo who join the brilliant Ashcon Rahmani (Jamie) and Rebecca Trehearn (Mum). The 10th Anniversary UK tour cast will also include Natasha Lewis (Ray), Mariam Pope (Pritti), Matthew Cavan (Tray Sophisticay), Daniel Jacob (Sandra Bollock), Jenson Steele (Laika Virgin), William Hazell (Dad), Kyle Dick (Dean), Ethan Casey-Clothier (Levi), Ellie Eames (Vicki), Uzuazo O’David (Cy), Grace Porter (Bex), Callum Saddler (Young Loco/First Cover Jamie), Fin Scott (Mickey), Zaynab Shahid (Fatimah), Will Stevenson-Jones (Sayid), Zarina Thompson (Becca), Jáiden Lodge (Swing), Ynez Williams (Swing) and Samantha Ivey (Understudy Margaret/Miss Hedge/Ray).
Featuring a new song by Dan Gillespie Sells and Tom MacRae, the tour will open at the Leeds Grand Theatre on 15 January 2027, 10 years after the musical’s debut at the Sheffield Crucible.
Announcing the anniversary tour earlier this year, director Jonathan Butterell and creators Sells and MacRae (book and lyrics) said: “It will be 10 years in February next year since Jamie New first stepped out into the world. Ten years since the people of Sheffield laughed and cried and celebrated his story at the Crucible. Ten years since Nica Burns and Nimax Theatres brought Jamie to London and sent him off dancing on his own two sparkling feet.
“Jamie’s courage in unveiling himself in all his glorious, fabulous joy has been applauded by millions of people in dozens of countries, and next year, to celebrate the show’s tenth birthday, he will be returning home to stages all around the UK. We were inspired by the true story of Jamie and Margaret Campbell, and we are thrilled that their story is still inspiring the world with its sass-filled magic.
“We could not be more grateful for the Jamie family we share across the globe, and are so excited to bring a new Jamie, Margaret, Pritti, Hugo, Ray, Miss Hedge and Dean, plus all the wonderful drag queens and year 11s, back together and out into UK theatres next year. In the place where we belong.”
Following Leeds, the tour will visit Chester, Shrewsbury, Sunderland, Sheffield, Manchester, Wimbledon, Liverpool, Truro, Eastbourne, Glasgow, Southampton, Cheltenham, Birmingham, Aylesbury, Cardiff, Nottingham, Oxford, Woking, Bradford and Newcastle.
A coming-of-age story with a twist, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie was written by singer-songwriter and lead vocalist of rock band The Feeling, Sells and stage and screenwriter MacRae. An instant hit with audiences and critics, the musical premiered in Sheffield in 2017 before transferring to London’s West End in November 2017. The show’s first UK tour launched in February 2020.
The multi-award-winning musical’s creative team also includes designer Anna Fleischle, choreographer Kate Prince, musical supervisor Theo Jamieson, musical director Ben Holder, lighting designer Lucy Carter, sound designer Paul Groothuis, casting director Will Burton and video designer Luke Halls.
