Sheffield Theatres’ artistic director Robert Hastie has revealed details of the cast for the world premiere of Dan Gillespie Sells and Tom MacRae’s Everybody’s Talking About Jamie.
John McCrea (The Busker’s Opera, Park Theatre) will take on the central role of Jamie in a cast that also includes Mina Anwar, who previously appeared in Sheffield Theatres’ production of King Lear; Tamsin Carroll (Strictly Ballroom, West Yorkshire Playhouse); Charles Dale (The Wars of the Roses, English Shakespeare Company); Lucie Shorthouse (The House of In Between, Theatre Royal Stratford East); and Josie Walker (War Horse, West End and NT Live).
The major new work by singer-songwriter Sells (the lead vocalist of rock band The Feeling) and stage and screenwriter MacRae is due to play the Crucible from 8-25 February 2017 with a press night on 13 February.
Described as a ‘coming-of-age story with a twist’ Everybody’s Talking About Jamie will be directed by Jonathan Butterell, who also came up with the idea for the show.
The creative team also includes designer Anna Fleischle, choreographer Kate Prince, musical director Tom Brady, lighting designer Joshua Carr, sound designer Paul Groothuis, casting director Will Burton CDG and assistant choreographer Kirstie Skivington.
