Initial casting has been confirmed for the first UK and Ireland touring production of the Broadway hit Mean Girls The Musical.
Emily Lane (Frozen, Theatre Royal Drury Lane, Starter For Ten, Bristol Old Vic) will star as Cady Heron alongside Vivian Panka (Dear Evan Hansen, UK tour, Heathers The Musical, The Other Palace) as Regina George, Sophie Pourret (Elf The Musical, Aldwych Theatre, The Great Gatsby, London Coliseum) as Karen Smith, Georgie Buckland (The Devil Wears Prada, Dominion Theatre, Shrek The Musical, UK tour) as Janis Sarkisian, Max Gill (Charley’s Aunt, Watermill Theatre, Fly More Than You Fall, Southwark Playhouse) as Damian Hubbard, Karim Zeroual (The Lion King/Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, UK tours) as Kevin Ganatra and Joshua Elmore as Mr Duvall (La Traviata, Lucia di Lammermoor, La Boheme, Opera Holland Park). Further casting will be announced at a later date.
Produced in London by Lorne Michaels, Sonia Friedman Productions and David Ian for Crossroads Live, the 2026/2027 tour of the stage musical comedy version of the popular 2004 Paramount Pictures film will open at the Manchester Opera House on 23 February 2026.
Following Manchester, the production will visit Cardiff, Stoke, Sunderland, Milton Keynes, Eastbourne, Woking, Leicester, Aberdeen, Cheltenham, Hull, Bournemouth, Belfast, Wolverhampton, Glasgow, Southend, Llandudno, Canterbury, Blackpool, Bristol, Crawley, Bradford, Norwich, Liverpool, Nottingham, Sheffield, Edinburgh, Wimbledon, Birmingham, Oxford, Southampton and Newcastle.
The winner of the 2025 WhatsOnStage Award for Best New Musical, Mean Girls played its first West End performance at the Savoy Theatre in June 2024 and was seen by over 330,000 people during its year-long run.
The award-winning creative team behind the Broadway debut of stage musical version of the 2004 film, writer Tina Fey, composer Jeff Richmond, lyricist Nell Benjamin and director and choreographer Casey Nicholaw, were joined in the UK by scenic designer Scott Pask, costume designer Katrina Lindsay, lighting designer Kenneth Posner, sound designer Brian Ronan and hair designer Josh Marquette, with musical supervision/vocal, dance, incidental and additional music arrangements by Mary-Mitchell Campbell, orchestrations by John Clancy and dance and incidental music arrangements by Glen Kelly.
Mean Girls The Musical had its world premiere in 2017 at the National Theatre in Washington DC and opened on Broadway in April 2018 at the August Wilson Theatre where it played to packed houses. The show then went on a hugely successful US tour in 2019 and is currently on its second US tour.
