An ensemble cast featuring some of Scotland’s brightest stars will feature in The Stamping Ground – the new musical featuring the hit songs of iconic Scottish band Runrig.
Presented by Eden Court Highlands and Raw Material, the ambitious production is due to debut at Eden Court in Inverness from 18-30 July 2022.
The cast includes Steven Miller (Sunshine on Leith), Christina Gordon (Pride & Prejudice*), Annie Grace (The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart), Neshla Caplan (Adam, Sunshine on Leith), Brian James O’Sullivan (The James Plays), Barrie Hunter (The Cheviot), Robert Grose (Kinky Boots, The Lion King) and Brig Bennet.
Local young talent will be represented by former member of the Eden Court Young Company and venue usher, Malcolm Cumming and former Eden Court Young Ambassador, Caitlin Forbes. The cast will also be joined on stage by a full, live band.
Written by award-winning playwright Morna Young (concept by Alan B. MacLeod) and featuring songs written by Runrig founding members Calum and Rory MacDonald, with musical direction and arrangements by John Kielty, The Stamping Ground is directed by Luke Kernaghan. The creative team also includes designer Kenneth MacLeod, lighting designer Simon Wilkinson, sound designer Garry Boyle, and movement director Jade Adamson.
Taking its title from Runrig’s celebrated 2001 album, the story of family and community is accompanied by some of the greatest hits of the band formed on Skye in 1973.
