The full cast has been confirmed the upcoming staged concert presentation in London of Joey Contreras’ new musical In Pieces.
As previously announced, the production directed by Martha Geelan will star Antonio Cipriano (Jagged Little Pill, Broadway) as Peter. He will be joined by Aimie Atkinson (SIX, Pretty Woman) as Sam, Ryan Kopel (Dear Evan Hansen) as Charlie, Alex James-Hatton (Newsies, Heathers) as Grey, Emilie Louise Israel (Hamilton) as River and Romona Lewis-Malley (Clueless the Musical) as Alex with Sarah Freer and Jacob Atkins.
The cast announcement was accompanied by the news that two extra performances have been added after the initial one-night-only performance at The Other Palace on 30 March sold out. The production will now play a 5.30pm performance on 30 March and a 2.30pm matinee performance on 31 March.
Commenting on the latest stage in the musical’s development, creator Contreras said: “I’ve been so touched by the excitement surrounding In Pieces and its journey to the stage. The fans showed up in a big way, selling out our first show within just a few hours, and because of that incredible demand, we’re excited to add more chances for people to come experience the show. I’m also beyond thrilled for audiences to meet the cast joining Antonio Cipriano – so many London favourites, I can’t wait to work with.”
Director Geelan added: “The moment I heard Joey’s incredible score I knew I had to be a part of bringing In Pieces to life in London. There is so much for audiences to connect with – about relationships, dreams and belonging. I am so excited to be working with this team and exceptionally talented cast to share the full show for the first time at The Other Palace in March.”
The production will feature musical direction by Brian Russell Carey, orchestrations by Contreras and Carey and casting direction by HJB Casting Ltd (Harry Blumenau).
Contreras’ contemporary romantic musical has previously played multiple sold-out concerts (most recently at New York City’s Joe’s Pub) and has been seen as a digital live-capture concert release, while a highlights album released by Broadway Records attracted over 60 million streams.
Listed as one of Playbill’s ‘Contemporary Musical Theatre Songwriters You Should Know’, Contreras’ musicals include All The Kids Are Doing It, Forget Me Not and Elements (co-written with book writer and lyricist Kate Thomas).
