Ruby in the Dust’s acclaimed musical reworking of The Great Gatsby returns to the London stage this month for a limited run at the Arts Theatre. Musical Theatre Review’s official photographer Roy Tan took some exclusive images behind the scenes.
The exclusive showcase production of Gatsby opens on 26 October and runs on Monday nights until 16 November. Matilda Sturridge, who featured in the show’s premiere at the Kings Head Theatre in 2012, will return to the role of Daisy Buchanan. Other confirmed cast members are Kim Medcalf (Cabaret, Hay Fever, TV’s EastEnders) and Ellie Nunn (Lady Windermere’s Fan, Shakespeare in Love). The show also features performers Simon Bailey (The Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, Marry Me a Little), Maria Coyne (Wicked), Christopher Staines (TV’s Wolf Hall), Sebastian Blunt (Stop Kiss, the Tom Cruise movie Edge of Tomorrow), Scheherazade Brathwaite, Nick Pack and James Lloyd Pegg, as well as the renowned Benoit Viellefon Orchestra. The title role of Jay Gatsby will be played by David Ricardo-Pearce (Alfie).
Adapted from F Scott Fitzgerald’s classic Jazz Age romantic tragedy, Gatsby features a book by Linnie Reedman and music and lyrics by Joe Evans. The show was first presented in 2012 and again in 2013.
