Rebekah Lowings and Niall Sheehy will co-star in the 2019 UK tour of Bill Kenwright’s critically-acclaimed production of the hit Ghost – The Musical.
Billed as ‘Unchained and Reimagined’, the new version of the show debuted in the UK in 2016 and will arrive back in the country in January following a successful international tour that visited Dubai, Istanbul and Trieste.
Featuring a book and lyrics by Bruce Joel Rubin based on his original film screenplay, with music and lyrics by Dave Stewart and Glen Ballard, the production which is directed by Bob Tomson will open at Bromley’s Churchill Theatre on 8 January 2019.
Lowings (Knights of the Rose, Jesus Christ Superstar) will play lovelorn Molly opposite Sheehy (Titanic The Musical, Miss Saigon) as Sam. They will be joined by Jacqui Dubois (original London cast of Rent) who will return to the role of Oda Mae Brown and Sergio Pasquariello (original London cast of Heathers the Musical) who will take on the role of Carl.
The cast will also include: Jules Brown, James Earl Adair, Lovonne Richards, Jochebel Ohene Maccarthy and Sadie-Jean Shirley. The cast is completed by Chanelle Anthony, Josh Andrews, Samantha Noel, Charlotte-Kate Warren, Kage Douglas and Michael Ward.
Describing the production ahead of the 2016 launch, Kenwright said: “Ghost is a story full of hope, and is one of those films which never leaves you. The book by Bruce Joel Rubin and score by Dave Stewart and Glenn Ballad come together wonderfully in one of my favourite new musicals in years.”
Rubin added: “This is a show with such a strong emotional and musical life that it can mould to many visions and interpretations. It can be performed on any scale, and its vibrant heart will still captivate an audience and allows the imagination to flourish. It is purely theatrical in the greatest sense. We are very excited by the potential that the new version holds and elated it will tour the UK with Bill Kenwright”.
Choreographed by Alistair David with design by Mark Bailey, lighting design by Nick Richings and sound design by Dan Samson, the 2019 tour is due to take in dates in Sheffield, Wolverhampton, Leicester, Woking, Londonderry, Brighton, Edinburgh, Chester, Sunderland, Cardiff, Glasgow, Carlisle, Belfast, Manchester, Liverpool and Bradford
