Energetic a cappella and beatbox show Gobsmacked! will make its London debut at The Udderbelly on the Southbank this summer.
The show, which has already enjoyed successful runs in Edinburgh and Hong Kong, will bring its innovative combination of harmonies, choreography and beatboxing to the venue at the Southbank Centre from 16 June until 17 July.
Embracing all forms of a cappella, from street corner harmonies to multi-track live looping, the theatrical show features a seven-strong cast of singers and beatboxers performing new arrangements of classic and contemporary songs.
Tracks from artists as varied as Adele and Queen and James Brown and The Killers are all given the Gobsmacked! treatment in a show that has been favourably compared with the drum-based smash hit Stomp.
Created by Alexandra Spencer-Jones (artistic director of Action to the Word and associate producer on Bend It Like Beckham), Nic Doodson (founding member of a cappella group The Magnets) and The TCB Group, the show features a multi-national cast that includes Brazilian Ricardo, American Ayanna, and reigning and three-time undefeated UK Beatbox World Champion Ball-Zee.
The creative team also includes lighting designer Philip Gladwell, composer and arranger Jack Blume and producer Andrew Kay.
