Producers Jeffrey Seller and Cameron Mackintosh have announced an extension to the successful West End run of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton with tickets now on sale for performances at the Victoria Palace Theatre until 10 July 2022.
The latest high-profile London production to confirm a new booking period currently stars Karl Queensborough (The Girl From the North Country, The Old Vic) as Alexander Hamilton with Jay Perry (Motown: The Musical, Shaftesbury Theatre) now taking on the role of Aaron Burr while Simon-Anthony Rhoden (The Color Purple, Leicester Curve) recovers from the injury that forced him to pull out of the production in December last year.
Queensborough and Perry appear alongside Ava Brennan (Tina – Tina Turner Musical, Aldwych) as Angelica Schuyler, Sharon Rose (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Aldwych Theatre) as Eliza Hamilton, Trevor Dion Nicholas (Aladdin, Prince Edward Theatre) as George Washington, Waylon Jacobs (The Last Five Years, Minack Theatre) as Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson, Emile Ruddock (Me and My Girl, Chichester Festival Theatre) as Hercules Mulligan/James Madison, Khalid Daley (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, UK and Ireland tour) as John Laurens/Phillip Hamilton, Emilie Louise Israel (The Magic of Motown UK tour) who will make her West End debut as Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds, and Harry Hepple (Romantics Anonymous, Bristol Old Vic) as King George with Nuno Queimado (Jesus Christ Superstar, Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre) playing Alexander Hamilton at certain performances.
The cast also includes: Jade Albertsen, Curtis Angus, Matthew Caputo, Filippo Coffano, Ashley Daniels, Kelly Downing, Lydia Fraser, Jordan Frazier, Manaia Glassey-Ohlson, Jake Halsey-Jones, Olivia Kate Holding, Peter Houston, DeAngelo Jones, Phoebe Liberty Jones, Nicolais-Andre Kerry, Travis Kerry, Ella Kora, Natasha Leaver, Aaron Lee Lambert, Sinead Long, Louis Mackrodt, Lindsey Tierney and Brandon Williams.
Earmarked by Cameron Mackintosh as the perfect production to launch his multi-million-pound refurbishment of the Victoria Palace Theatre, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s hip-hop flavoured show was one of 2017’s most eagerly-anticipated West End premieres. The production lived up to all expectations and went on to win seven Oliviers including the award for Best New Musical.
Based on Ron Chernow’s biography of Alexander Hamilton, the musical which has a book, music and lyrics by Miranda is directed by Thomas Kail. Choreography is by Andy Blankenbuehler with musical direction and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, scenic design by David Korins, costume design by Paul Tazewell, lighting design by Howell Binkley, sound design by Nevin Steinberg and hair and wig design by Charles G. Lapointe.
Heavily tipped from its Broadway opening night as a major awards’ winner, Hamilton banked the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the 2016 Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album before adding a stunning 11 Tony Awards including the award for Best Musical to its trophy cabinet.
Miranda’s tale of one of America’s founding fathers debuted Off-Broadway in February 2015 where it secured the piece’s first gong, the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Musical.
Hamilton is produced by Jeffrey Seller, Sander Jacobs, Jill Furman, The Public Theater and Cameron Mackintosh.
