Ex-Coronation Street and Emmerdale regular Hayley Tamaddon will become the latest soap star to take on a leading role in Everybody’s Talking About Jamie when she joins the critically-acclaimed production later this month.
The actress, who starred as Millie in last year’s touring production of Thoroughly Modern Millie will step into the role of Miss Hedges, alongside the previously announced EastEnder actor Shane Ritchie who is due to play Hugo/Loco Chanelle from 28 January until 4 May 2019.
With Layton Williams taking on the central role of Jamie New from 28 January other new cast members will include Bend It Like Beckham’s Sejal Keshwala who will take over as Ray and Sabrina Sandhu (East Is East) who will step into the role of Pritti Pasha.
The newcomers also include Marlon G Day (Dad), Momar Diagne, Zahra Jones (Becca), Luke Latchman (Sayid), Rachel Price (Swing), Biancha Szynal (Swing), Adam Taylor (Swing) and Ziggy Tyler Taylor (Levi).
Continuing with the show are current cast members: Alex Anstey (Laika Virgin), Luke Baker (Dean Paxton), Courtney Bowman (Fatimah), Marvyn Charles (Swing), James Gillan (Tray Sophisticay), Ryan Hughes (Mickey), Daniel Jacob (Sandra Bollock), Melissa Jacques, Emily Kenwright (Vicki), Jordan Laviniere (Cy), Rebecca McKinnis (Margaret New) and Harriet Payne (Bex).
Originally planned as a limited season at the Apollo Theatre following on from a successful debut run at Sheffield Crucible, Everybody’s Talking about Jamie’s West End run is currently booking until 28 September.
Written by Dan Gillespie Sells and Tom MacRae, the show is directed by Jonathan Butterell, who also came up with the original idea for the show. The show has collected seven major theatre awards to date and filming is due to begin on a movie version of the musical in the spring.
The production’s creative team includes designer Anna Fleischle, choreographer Kate Prince, musical director Theo Jamieson, lighting designer Lucy Carter, sound designer Paul Groothuis and casting director Will Burton.
