Former soap star Hayley Tamaddon will take on the title role in the 2018 UK touring production of the musical comedy of Thoroughly Modern Millie.
Following on from last year’s highly successful tour, the production will be back on the road next year opening at the Richmond Theatre on 27 March.
Tamaddon, who has appeared on stage in hit tours of shows including Chicago, Spamalot and The Rocky Horror Show, will take on the central role of the farm girl hoping to make it big in New York in the production directed and choreographed by Racky Plews.
With a book by Richard Morris and Dick Scanlan, based on the original story and screenplay by Richard Morris for the Universal Pictures film, the multi award-winning show features new music by Jeanine Tesori and new lyrics by Dick Scanlan.
The production’s creative team includes musical director Rob Wicks, casting director Sue Talbert, executive producer David King and executive director Graham King.
The tour will play Richmond until 31 March before visiting Eastbourne, Sunderland, Oxford, Torquay, Poole, Stoke on Trent, Dublin, Bradford, Darlington, Southend, Wolverhampton, Ipswich and Jersey.
