West End and Broadway leading man John Owen-Jones will return to the stage at Her Majesty’s Theatre on 18 September 2022 to play the third in a series of three special shows.
Famous for playing the title role in the West End’s record-breaking The Phantom of the Opera longer than any other actor will visit his old stomping ground on 18 September.
Presented by live music and events promoters Cuffe and Taylor in association with theatre producers Lambert Jackson Productions, the Her Majesty’s Theatre performance will follow on from shows at the Lowther Pavilion, Lytham St Annes on 4 September and Leeds City Varieties Hall on 11 September.
Celebrating the career of the star who remains the youngest in history to play Jean Valjean in Les Misérables, the John Owen-Jones Music of the Night concerts will feature performances of Owen-Jones’ favourite songs including ‘Bring Him Home’ from Les Misérables, ‘Music of the Night’ from Phantom and ‘Anthem’ from Chess.
Commenting on the concerts, Owen-Jones said: “I am absolutely thrilled to be presenting my own shows this autumn. Not only will I get to perform in a theatre very special to me at Her Majesty’s but I will also be heading to Lancashire and Leeds.
“It is always an honour to walk out on stage and perform the songs that have been so present throughout my career so I will endeavour to make sure these three shows are very special for everyone.”
One of the West End’s most accomplished leading men, Owen-Jones’ glittering career spans three decades and has taken the actor who was born and raised in South Wales to stages across the world.
A special guest star at the 25th anniversary concert performances of both Les Misérables and The Phantom of the Opera, Owen-Jones’ musical theatre credits also include playing Gaylord Ravenal in Show Boat, the first fully-staged musical production at the Royal Albert Hall.
He has performed concerts in many of the world’s most prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall in New York and the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow and has released six solo albums with the most recent ‘Spotlight’ released in 2019 and featuring The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.
Announcing the shows, Lambert Jackson’s CEO and creative director Jamie Lambert said: “John Owen-Jones is an incredible talent within British musical theatre. We are very excited to be working with him on these three very special shows and now look forward to bringing him to the stage in September.”
