Sally Field, Kelsey Grammer, Gloria Estefan, Tom Hiddleston and Wendell Pierce will be among the famous faces taking to the stage to present this year’s Olivier Awards with Mastercard ceremony at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 7 April 2019.
Hosted by comedian Jason Manford, the 2019 the star-studded line-up also includes Jade Anouka, Zawe Ashton, Joanne Clifton, Kevin Clifton, Charlie Cox, Arthur Darvill, Danny Dyer, Paapa Essiedu, Ncuti Gatwa, Ruthie Henshall, Judy Kuhn, Art Malik, Jack McBrayer, Katharine McPhee, Wunmi Mosaku, Danielle de Niese, Andy Nyman, Pasek and Paul, Bill Pullman, Shane Richie, Harriet Scott, Thea Sharrock, Ashley Shaw and Layton Williams.
In celebration of the 20th anniversary of Mamma Mia! in the West End, the show’s current Donna and the Dynamos (Sara Poyzer, Ricky Butt and Kate Graham) will also be presenting an award.
This year’s ceremony will feature performances from all the musicals nominated in the Mastercard Best New Musical and Magic Radio Best Musical Revival categories: Caroline, Or Change; Come From Away; Company; Fun Home; The King And I; Six; and Tina – The Tina Turner Musical.
There will also be a special performance by the company of Disney’s The Lion King, celebrating the iconic production’s 20th anniversary in the West End.
The Bodyguard’s Beverley Knight will perform during the Memoriam section tribute to those from the theatre industry who passed away in the year since the last awards’ event.
The Olivier Awards will continue its partnership with ITV, which will broadcast the show later the evening of 7 April, while the full ceremony will be broadcast live on Magic Radio, the event’s Official Radio Partner, hosted from the Royal Albert Hall by Ruthie Henshall and Alice Arnold.
The awards ceremony will also be broadcast worldwide via Facebook, and the popular Red Carpet Live show will return to the Olivier Awards Facebook page from 4 to 5:30pm. Hosts will be announced soon.
Content creator and best-selling author Louise Pentland will be on hand backstage at the Royal Albert Hall to interview the winners for the Olivier Awards Twitter channel.
Announced earlier this month, this year’s nominees list is headed by Marianne Elliott’s critically-acclaimed gender-swapped version of Company and the Tony Award-winning Come From Away with nine nominations each.
