The Blue Orange Theatre’s Jazz Age re-imagining of Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novella Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde will open at London’s Cockpit Theatre in January.
Written by Eric Gracey, Jekyll & Hyde will run from 13 January 2016 until February 6 at the venue in Marylebone, North London.
The new production, which will be directed by the Blue Orange’s artistic director Mark Webster, transfers the gothic horror story into a 1930s setting complete with live performances of jazz standards including ‘The Man I Love’, ‘I Get a Kick Out of You’ and ‘Cheek to Cheek’.
The cast includes Daniel Blacker (George’s Marvellous Medicine), Nicola Foxfield (As You Like It), Sarah Gain (House of Glass), Stuart Horobin (Dealer’s Choice), Oliver Hume (Horrible Histories) and Charlotte Szabo (Rent). Lighting will be by Jon Bates, with fight choreography by Stagefight Ltd and prosthetics and masks provided by Creature Encounter.
