The team behind the multi-award-winning musical Jersey Boys has announced another extension to the show’s run at the Trafalgar Theatre in Whitehall with booking now open up to 28 January 2024.
Coinciding with celebrations marking 18 years since the hit show opened on Broadway, the new booking period was accompanied by details of new cast members from 26 July.
Current stars Luke Suri and Karl James Wilson will continue in their roles of Frankie Valli and Nick Massi, with Peter Nash (Singin’ in the Rain, UK tour) stepping into the role of Tommy De Vito and Declan Egan returning as Bob Gaudio, the role he previously played at the Piccadilly Theatre and on UK tour.
The West End production will also feature Joey Cornish as Joe Pesci, Joseph Peters as Bob Crewe, with Andy Barke as Gyp De Carlo, Kirsty Whelan as Mary Delgado, Oliver Tester as Norm Waxman/Hank Majewski, Jacob McIntosh as Barry Belson, Gracie Lai as Lorraine and Rosie Needham as Francine. The cast will be completed by Danny Knott, Bonnie Page, Olly Manley, Daniel Parkinson, Matthew Lawrence and Pearce Barron.
Commenting on the musical’s 18th birthday and announcing the new cast, Howard Panter, producer for Trafalgar Entertainment Productions, said: “Eighteen years is a magnificent milestone for Jersey Boys and I’m thrilled that audiences continue to give standing ovations at the Trafalgar Theatre night after night. I can’t wait to see our incredible new cast take to the stage and perform the legendary hits that make Jersey Boys the smash hit musical it is.”
Written by Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice with music by Bob Gaudio and lyrics by Bob Crewe, Jersey Boys at the Trafalgar Theatre is staged by the original Broadway creative team led by the Tony Award-winning team of Des McAnuff and choreographer Sergio Trujillo with scenic design by Klara Zieglerova, costume design by Jess Goldstein, lighting by Howell Binkley, sound by Steve Canyon Kennedy and projection design by Michael Clark. The orchestrations are by Steve Orich and the music supervision and vocal arrangements by Ron Melrose.
Winner of Tony, Olivier and Helpmann Awards for Best New Musical, Jersey Boys has won 65 major international awards and has been seen by over 27 million people worldwide.
After debuting on Broadway in 2005, the hit-packed jukebox musical which tells the true rags to riches story of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, first opened in London at the Prince Edward Theatre on 18 March 2008 before moving to the Piccadilly Theatre in March 2014 where it ran for another three years.
Now in the middle of its third UK and Ireland tour with dates booked through to April 2023, Jersey Boys previously played record-breaking UK and Ireland tours from 2014 to 2016 and from 2017 until 2019.
The Broadway production ran for 11 years, taking its final bow in January 2017 as the 12th longest-running musical in Broadway history. Jersey Boys returned to New York with a new production in November 2017 and the US national tour broke house records in cities across the country.
