West End and Broadway leading man John Owen-Jones will be joining fellow Welsh musical theatre star Lucie Jones for both of her festive concerts next month.
Best known for playing the title role in the West End’s record-breaking The Phantom of the Opera longer than any other actor and for being the youngest actor in history to play Jean Valjean in Les Misérables, Owen-Jones will appear alongside the Waitress star when she returns to Wales to play St David’s Hall in her hometown of Cardiff on 13 December 2021 and on her return to London to play Her Majesty’s Theatre on 14 December.
Commenting on her special guest star, Jones said: “John is an absolutely incredible performer so I am delighted he will be joining me at home in Cardiff and then at Her Majesty’s. It will make the evenings just that bit more special to have John on stage with me.”
Owen-Jones added: “Lucie and I have sung together many times over the years, and recorded ‘The Prayer’ together for my latest album, so it will be fantastic to be part of these festive concerts at two venues which mean so much to me – a Welsh homecoming at St David’s and a return to The Phantom’s lair at Her Majesty’s… I can’t wait!”
Presented by live music and event promoters Cuffe and Taylor in association with theatre producers Lambert Jackson Productions, Lucie Jones Live at Christmas will feature the musical theatre star performing her favourite Christmas songs and a selection of show tunes accompanied by her live band.
Announcing the addition of Owen-Jones, Lambert Jackson’s Jamie Lambert said: “We are delighted to be bringing Lucie’s Christmas shows to the stage – and to be announcing John Owen-Jones as a special guest. They are both incredible talents within British musical theatre so to bring them together for these two exclusive shows is just brilliant.”

After first finding fame as a finalist on The X Factor in 2009, Jones has steadily built a career as a musical theatre star with roles in the UK tours of Ghost, Legally Blonde, The Wedding Singer, Les Misérables and the 2oth anniversary production of Rent.
Jones stepped into the role of Jenna in Waitress in June 2019 following the departure of London’s original Jenna, Katharine McPhee. The singer who also represented the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2017, has just returned as Jenna in Waitress’ first UK tour.
In 2020, Jones played her first London solo concert at the West End home of Waitress – the Adelphi Theatre – and celebrated the subsequent release of her concert album ‘Lucie Jones – Live At The Adelphi’.
