Jonathan Groff will play J. Pierrepont Finch in a concert version of How to Succeed in Business Without Trying at the Royal Festival Hall
Direct from his current role in Hamilton at the Public Theater in New York, Jonathan Groff (HBO’s Looking, Glee) will play J. Pierrepont Finch in a concert production of Frank Loesser’s classic 1961 musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying at the Royal Festival Hall on 19 May.
Also in the cast are Game of Thrones and West End performer Hannah Waddingham (A Little Night Music, Spamalot, Kiss Me, Kate) as Hedy La Rue and Clive Rowe (Kiss Me, Kate, The Light Princess) as Mr Twimble. Jonathan Butterell (Sweeney Todd, Nine, Fiddler On the Roof) directs and Mike Dixon is the conductor/musical director.
With music and lyrics by Frank Loesser (Guys and Dolls), and a script by Abe Burrows, Jack Weinstock and Willie Gilbert, How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying will be reimagined as a live concert experience. This special one off event is the first of a series of musicals in concert.
The concert, co-produced by independent promoter Senbla and British writer and producer Elliot Davis (upcoming feature film Consider Yourself, Follies in Concert, Loserville, Fings Ain’t Wot They Used T’Be, Out There), will feature a full orchestra bringing the songs to life.
Ollie Rosenblatt (MD of Senbla) and Elliot Davis commented: “How to Succeed has a witty and fast-paced book accompanying one of Loesser’s most memorable scores. To be able to bring it in concert format to London audiences with a team of such talented artists is beyond a pleasure. It will be an evening to remember.”
