Jordan Lee Gage will take over from Andrew Polec in the leading role of Strat in the hit musical Bat Out of Hell – The Musical at the Dominion Theatre from 3 September 2018.
Gage who made his West End debut in the role of Hoffman in the production will step into the role he has previously understudied after Polec gives his last performance as Strat on 1 September.
Commenting on his move into the role which earned Polec the 2017 Joe Allen Best West End Debut title at The Stage Debut Awards, Gage said: “I’m overwhelmed to be taking over the iconic role of Strat in Bat Out of Hell. Being part of this incredible show and company has been a life-changing experience for me and I have learned so much from working with the extraordinary talent that is Andrew Polec.
“I want to thank everyone at Bat Out of Hell for giving me this opportunity and to thank Andrew for his support and friendship. He has been an outstanding Strat, a deserved winner of the Joe Allen Best West End Debut Award and an inspiration. I wish him love and every success on his journey. I’m so excited to get started!

The show’s other alternate Strat, Simon Gordon will continue to understudy the role while also playing Esquivel in the production which is currently booking through to 5 January 2019.
Following on from smash hit runs in 2017 at the Manchester Opera House and the London Coliseum, the musical version of Jim Steinman’s rock classic record stormed into the Dominion Theatre in April this year. The production recently announced a major partnership with the armed forces charity, the Invictus Games Foundation.
Four decades in the making the theatrical incarnation of Steinman and Meat Loaf’s iconic rock album made its long-awaited debut in 2017 with a preview run at the Manchester Opera House before its official world premiere opening night at the London Coliseum in June 2017. The show also went on to play a successful limited season at Toronto’s Ed Mirvish Theatre last year. The show collected the Evening Standard Radio 2 Audience Award for Best Musical in 2017.
Directed by Jay Scheib, Bat Out of Hell – The Musical has a book by Steinman and Stuart Beattie, music and lyrics by Steinman, with choreography by Emma Portner, musical arrangements and supervision by Michael Reed, set design by Jon Bausor, costume design by Meentje Nielsen, video design by Finn Ross, lighting design by Patrick Woodroffe, sound design by Gareth Owen, orchestration by Steve Sidwell, casting by David Grindrod Associates and musical direction by Robert Emery.
