More than 100,000 tickets have been sold in the first weeks of Kids Week 2103, London theatre’s annual initiative for children.
Julian Bird, chief executive of the Society of London Theatre (SOLT) said: “The sales for Kids Week are incredible – and we would like to thank the many shows that have once again supported this annual initiative to enable children to enjoy the theatre in the month of August. More tickets are now on sale, so please check the website for availability.”
Now in its 16th year, run by SOLT and supported by Ticketmaster, Kids Week is all about encouraging young people to experience live theatre. From 1-31 August a child aged 16 or under can go free to participating shows when accompanied by an adult paying full price. Up to two extra children’s tickets can be purchased at half price. Kids Week also has a range of free activities and events such as Q&As with cast members, song and dance workshops on stage and a peek behind the scenes. (Look out for a special report from the Wicked Young Writers’ Award workshop, taking place on 28 August, 12.30pm–1.30pm, www.ticketmaster.co.uk/feature/kids_week/shows_activ_list.html).
While tickets for certain shows were snapped up quickly, more are still available for shows including A Chorus Line, Horrible Histories – Barmy Britain, Let It Be, One Man, Two Guvnors, Monty Python’s Spamalot, The Bodyguard, Top Hat, We Will Rock You, Wicked and We’re Going On a Bear Hunt (the latter is aimed at the under-fives). There is also good availability for the following shows aimed at 15 years of age and over – Fences, Once, Rock of Ages and Jersey Boys.
For more information on the complete line-up and to buy tickets visit www.kidsweek.co.uk or telephone 0844 248 5151 (no booking or postage fees apply).
