Live recording of the acclaimed 25th anniversary concert staging of Jason Robert Brown’s The Last Five Years released

Atlantic Records has released a live recording of the acclaimed 25th anniversary concert staging of Jason Robert Brown’s The Last Five Years in London earlier this year.

Starring Tony, Grammy and Emmy Award winner Ben Platt and Olivier Award, Golden Globe and National Board of Review winner Rachel Zegler the special concert performances at the London Palladium were directed and conducted by triple Tony Award winner Brown (ParadeThe Bridges of Madison County).

Commenting on the recording, Brown said: “It’s impossible for me to imagine two performers who could embody these characters as seamlessly, as virtuosically, and with as much deep emotion as Ben and Rachel. This recording is an incredible cap on the first quarter-century of the extraordinary life of The Last Five Years and the best possible springboard for whatever comes next. These two titanic talents are the future of musical theatre, and I’m both immensely proud of them and honoured by their commitment to my work.”

The celebration of the landmark anniversary of the musical concluded earlier this month with two final sold-out performances in New York City at Radio City Music Hall.

Presented by Lambert Jackson with LW Tickets, the creative team for the concerts also included musical director Leo Munby and associate director Emma Butler.

The Last Five Years (25th Anniversary Live at the London Palladium)’ is available on all digital platforms.

Written and composed by Brown, The Last Five Years premiered in Chicago in 2001 and debuted Off-Broadway in 2002. The musical which was made into a film featuring Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan, premiered in London at the St James Theatre in 2016 with a production directed by Brown and starring Samantha Barks (Les Misérables) and Olivier Award winner Jonathan Bailey (Company).
