Following a successful West End debut earlier on this year, Australian performer Trevor Ashley is taking his show Liza On An E out on its first ever UK tour.
Channelling the talents of the iconic Liza Minnelli, Ashley will appear at the Theatre Royal, Brighton (30 September), the Dancehouse, Manchester (1 and 2 October), The Auditorium Liverpool at the Echo Arena (5 October) and for one night only at London’s Lyric Theatre on 7 October. The tour is presented by Neil Eckersley for Speckulation Entertainment.
In Liza On An E, co-written and directed by Dean Bryant (associate director of Priscilla Queen of the Desert), Ashley covers everything from Minnelli’s marriage to Broadway song-and-dance legend Peter Allen to revealing insights into her crazy showbiz family. ‘Liza’ dishes the dirt on her extraordinary life like you’ve never seen her before. Accompanied by a live onstage band, she performs all the greatest hits, including ‘Cabaret’, ‘Maybe This Time’ and ‘New York New York’, together with several parody songs (and special appearances from her mother, the legendary Judy Garland).
Musical Theatre Review’s critic described Ashley’s performance earlier this year as: “Vocally amazing, always witty and wickedly funny as well as charismatic, Ashley is not only the best of all the Lizas in the vocal department, he goes way beyond female impersonation. He captures the soul and craziness of Minnelli.”
‘Liza’ has specially recorded a video to announce her UK tour.
