Jodie Jacobs joins the case of Lizzie at the Greenwich Theatre
Casting has been announced for Lizzie, the ‘new gothic rock musical with a killer edge’, which will receive its UK premiere at London’s Greenwich Theatre early next year.
Inspired by the story of notorious alleged axe-murderer Lizzie Borden, the musical will arrive in the capital in February following a European premiere at Frederica Teater in Denmark in January 2017.
Presented by Frederica Teater in association with Aria Entertainment, the Greenwich Theatre run will begin on 22 February and end on 12 March, with a press night on 24 February.
Based on an original concept by Alan Stevens Hewitt and Tim Maner, Lizzie features music by Steven Cheslik-DeMeyer and Hewitt, with lyrics by Cheslik-DeMeyer and Maner who also provides the additional music. Additional lyrics and orchestrations are by Hewitt. The show is directed by Søren Møller.
Featuring a six-piece rock band, the show focuses on the trial of Lizzie Borden, the prime suspect in the brutal murder of her parents in a small New England town in 1892.
The cast will include Broadway star Ciara Renée (Pippin, Big Fish); Jodie Jacobs (Carrie, 27); Bleu Woodward (Kinky Boots); and Bjørg Gamst (The Little Mermaid).
Announcing details of the show’s UK debut, Aria Entertainment’s Katy Lipson said: “I am delighted to be working in collaboration with Søren Møller on bringing this unique and exciting new musical to the UK.
“It is Aria Entertainment’s mission to focus on supporting new musical theatre and we are excited to be working with Frederica Teater for the first time in what we hope will be a continuing relationship for many years to come.”
