Just a few weeks after the launch of the new touring production of Kander and Ebb’s Tony Award-winning Curtains, the show’s producers have announced plans for a London premiere run this festive season.

The production which launched at Bromley’s Churchill Theatre in October will take up residence at the Wyndham’s Theatre from 13 December 2019 until 11 January 2020.

Announcing the London season, the production team said: “We are incredibly proud of our show and delighted to be bringing it to the West End. The whole team have worked so hard to get the show to where it is today and we are thrilled we can show London audiences our wonderful production.”

Featuring comedian Jason Manford (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Producers tours) in the central role of the musical-loving detective Frank Cioffi,  the principal cast includes: Carley Stenson (Legally Blonde, Savoy Theatre) as Georgia Hendricks; Rebecca Lock (Heathers The Musical, Haymarket Theatre) as Carmen; Samuel Holmes (The Wedding Singer UK tour); Leah Barbara West (Grand Hotel, Southwark Playhouse); Alan Burkitt (Top Hat, Aldwych Theatre & tour) as Bobby Pepper; and Andy Coxon (Hair, The Vaults) as Aaron Fox.

The cast also features: Emma Caffrey as Bambi, Adam Rhys-Charles as Daryl Grady, Martin Callaghan as Oscar Shapiro, Minal Petal as Johnny Harmon and Mark Sangster as Sidney. The ensemble is made up of J.R. Ballantyne, Kathryn Barnes, Pamela Blair, Charlie Johnson, Robin Kent, Thomas-Lee Kid, Ben Mundy, Gleanne Purcell Brown, Samuel John-Humphreys and Nia Jermin.

One of the later musicals from the prolific partnership of composer John Kander and lyricist Fred Ebb (Cabaret, Chicago), the musical mystery boasts a book by Rupert Holmes (Drood), based on an original book and concept by Peter Stone (Charade).

Debuting on Broadway in 2007, the show featured a crowd-pleasing and Tony Award-winning performance from Frasier’s David Hyde Pierce as Cioffi, the detective on the trail of a killer who murdered the leading lady of a new Broadway-bound musical on stage on opening night.

Director Paul Foster heads a creative team that includes: choreographer Alistair David; musical supervisor and arranger Sarah Travis; set designer David Woodhead; costume designer Gabriella Slade; lighting designer Tim Mitchell; sound designer Tom Marshall; and casting director Jim Arnold.

Following the London run the 2020 leg of the tour will visit Wimbledon, Sunderland, Liverpool, Llandudno, Northampton, Blackpool, Glasgow, Leicester, Wolverhampton, and Southampton.
