The full schedule has been unveiled for Musical Con 2024 – the world’s biggest musical theatre fan convention which returns for the third consecutive year this weekend (19 and 20 October).
As previously announced, the star-studded line-up which will once again help turn ExCeL London into a haven for musical theatre lovers, will include this year’s guest of honour Tony, Grammy and Emmy award winner André De Shields (Hadestown, The Wiz), Todrick Hall (Burlesque, Chicago), Layton Williams (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, Billy Elliot), Lucie Jones (Wicked, Waitress), Aimie Atkinson (Pretty Woman, Six), Jon Robyns (The Phantom of the Opera, Hamilton) and Olivier Award winner Cassidy Janson (& Juliet, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical).
The co-founder of Musical Con, Shanay Holmes (Get Up, Stand Up!, Oliver!), will feature along with cast members from new and upcoming productions including Olivier Award winner Amy Trigg from The Little Big Things and the stars of Hadestown – Melanie La Barrie, Zachary James and Gloria Onitiri.
New productions due to feature in the event include Fly More Than You Fall starring The Greatest Showman’s Keala Settle, Title of Show starring Jacob Fowler, and Figaro starring Aimie Atkinson. The stars of Mean Girls – Georgina Castle, Charlie Burn, Elena Skye, Grace Mouat and Daniel Bravo – will also feature along with the winners of ITV’s talent search Mamma Mia! I Have a Dream, Stevie Doc and Tobias Turley.
Covering over 10,000 square metres, Musical Con will offer more than 100 hours of unique programming over the weekend. A festival-style main stage at its centre will showcase unique performances along with interviews with the stars, cast and creatives behind some of the country’s biggest shows.
There will also be cast reunions and fan competitions, including Cosplay, Lip Sync Battle and the Star of Musical Con talent search. Visitors will be able to head over to the seated Backstage Theatre to get all the backstage gossip in intimate panel talks or delve behind the scenes for demonstrations of puppetry, make-up and costume design.
The extensive Theatreland exhibition offers a marketplace for stage-related businesses, experiences and photo opportunities offered by shows, including Disney’s Hercules, Mary Poppins, Matilda The Musical and a range of Andrew Lloyd Webber musicals.
Over 10,000 musical theatre lovers from across the globe attended the first two events, with last year’s featuring 140 hours of programming and over 100 special guests.
Musical Con is produced by Chris Steward and Shanay Holmes for West End Musical Productions.
