Tall Stories Theatre Company’s creative programme director Natalia Scorer will succeed Emily Gray as executive director of Mercury Musical Developments (MMD) from June.
Commenting on her new role, Scorer said: “I am delighted to be joining Mercury Musical Developments. It’s an organisation I have long admired, in a sector I am passionate about supporting. I hope to build on MMD’s successes in creating a strong and supportive community for writers and in championing new musical theatre nationally and worldwide.
“I look forward to working closely with MMD’s members and with partner organisation Musical Theatre Network, to ensure a sustainable and inclusive sector for new musicals in which brilliant new work can flourish.”
Welcoming Scorer’s appointment, the interim chair of the MMD Board, Sean Gray said: “Natalia has worked in a creative capacity for Tall Stories Theatre Company over the past almost eight years and prior to that has experience in casting, directing and stage management.
“We have every confidence that she can continue Emily’s excellent work developing MMD’s support and initiatives for writer and composer members and nurturing relationships with our supporters and funders. We wish Emily every success in her new role with BYMT”.
Storer will manage a range of projects including artist development schemes, industry workshops and youth/community projects and will also run the Tall Stories Studio, a new rehearsal and performance space in Islington.
Before Tall Stories, Storer, who began her career as a stage management member of the National Youth Theatre, worked at Jessica Ronane Casting on West Children’s casting and as a venue director for the New York Fringe Festival. A director and dramaturg, focusing on new and contemporary musicals, Storer’s dramaturgy credits include the award-winning Stay Awake, Jake by Tim Gilvin and directing credits include The Last Five Years at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
