Marley Fenton will play Alexander Hamilton and Billy Nevers moves into the role of Aaron Burr in the touring production of Hamilton from January 2025
New casting has been announced for the successful UK and Ireland tour of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s multi-award-winning musical Hamilton.
From 20 January 2025, 2024 Black British Theatre Award-winner Marley Fenton (The Wizard of Oz, London Palladium/UK tour, Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends, Gielgud Theatre) will star as Alexander Hamilton while the tour’s current Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson, Billy Nevers (Groundhog Day, The Old Vic, & Juliet, Shaftesbury Theatre) will move into the role of Aaron Burr.
After playing Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds in the West End production, Roshani Abbey (Rumi: The Musical, London Coliseum, Gypsy, Royal Exchange Theatre) will play Eliza Hamilton up to 25 March 2025 with Casey Al-Shaqsy (Prince of Egypt, Dominion Theatre, Rumi: The Musical, London Coliseum) joining the company for the first time to take on the role from 26 March 2025.
Also joining the company from 20 January 2025 will be Chasity Crisp (TINA: The Tina Turner Musical, Hamburg, Ghost The Musical, Berlin) who will return to the UK to play Angelica Schuyler after originating the role in Germany in the first-ever translated production and on the original German cast recording in 2022.
Other newcomers will include Ashley J Daniels (Hamilton, Victoria Palace, Frozen The Musical, Theatre Royal Drury Lane) as Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson, Shak Mancel James (The Book of Mormon, Prince of Wales Theatre, We Will Rock You, London Coliseum) as John Laurens/Philip Hamilton, Naomi Katiyo (Just For One Day, The Old Vic, Ain’t Too Proud, Prince Edward Theatre) as Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds and Louis Maskell (The Lord of the Rings, Watermill Theatre, Flowers For Mrs Harris, Chichester Festival Theatre/Sheffield Crucible) as King George.
Continuing with the production will be KM Drew Boateng (Five Guys Named Moe, Upstairs at the Gatehouse, Motown The Musical, Shaftesbury Theatre) as Hercules Mulligan/James Madison with Akmed Junior Khemalai (Ain’t Too Proud, Prince Edward Theatre, The Book of Mormon, Prince of Wales Theatre) now playing George Washington.
Simeon Beckett, Jonathan Hermosa-Lopez, Richard Logun, Tamara Morgan, Antoine Murray-Straughan, Kiran Patel, Izzy Read, Harry Robinson, Phoebe Samuel-Gray, Samantha Shuma, Michael James Stewart, Jack Whitehead and Sian Yeo will remain with the production.
New cast members Jonathan Andre, Melad Hamidi, Imogen Rose Hart, Bethany Kate, Jago Mottart, Patrick Munday, Chris Otim, Castell Parker, Eva Phillips, Sydney Spencer, Sylvie Stenson, Ethan Vijn, Lashane Williams and Ynez Williams will complete the cast.
The UK and Ireland tour of the Olivier, Tony, Grammy and Pulitzer Prize-winning musical opened at the Manchester Palace Theatre on 11 November 2023 and has continued to play to packed houses and critical acclaim in Edinburgh, Bristol, Birmingham, Dublin and Cardiff. The production continues to break records at the Victoria Palace Theatre in London, where it is currently booking until 29 March 2025, and on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre.
Based on Ron Chernow’s biography of Alexander Hamilton, the musical which has a book, music and lyrics by Miranda is directed by Thomas Kail. Choreography is by Andy Blankenbuehler with musical direction and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, scenic design by David Korins, costume design by Paul Tazewell, lighting design by Howell Binkley, sound design by Nevin Steinberg and hair and wig design by Charles G. Lapointe.
The multi-award-winning musical opened at the newly re-built and restored Victoria Palace Theatre in London in December 2017. The musical continues to play to record breaking houses on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, throughout North America, in Toronto, Canada, Australia and Germany with forthcoming seasons in New Zealand. An international tour is also planned.
