New family musical Magical Merlin to debut in London in October

The team behind hit family musical Jungle Rumble will follow the eco-themed show’s February sold-out run at the Fortune Theatre by returning to the Covent Garden venue with new show Magical Merlin in October.

Also written and composed by drama school Perform’s Will Barnett, the mix of magic, songs and dance will light up the Fortune Theatre stage during the autumn half-term holidays from 24-30 October 2022.

Commenting on the production, Lucy Quick, founder of Perform Productions, said: “We’ve always wished to inspire children with more affordable opportunities to see family shows performed by West End professionals. It was thrilling to see children laughing and singing along to Jungle Rumble. We’re delighted to be following it up with Magical Merlin, and we hope that with tickets starting at £17.50 many families will be able to enjoy our school holiday theatre experience.”

Mirroring the theme of Perform’s current children’s drama classes, the production will feature a professional cast bringing the legendary characters of Camelot – Arthur, Lancelot, Guinevere and Merlin – to life alongside a fire-breathing dragon.

Magical Merlin is produced by Perform Productions and with general management by Anthology Theatre. The full cast and creative team will be announced at a later date.

Launched in 2000 by Barnett and Quick, Perform is a drama school for children aged between four and 12. With an emphasis on child development, Perform runs classes at venues across the UK.
