Stage and screen musicals are the focus of newly launched online radio station Box Office Radio.
Launching the privately owned station, manager and founder Josh Haywood said: “Box Office Radio is about two key factors, the music and the people. As well as appealing to fans of stage and screen, we are working with industry groups and connecting with the passionate people that make up the UK’s 2,000 plus amateur theatre groups and operatic societies.
“Our goal is to be the number one choice for this genre and be loved by theatre professionals and musical fans alike. We are now exploring opportunities to collaborate with individuals, industry related organisations and other businesses and media outlets.”
Tapping into the public’s love affair with musical theatre and musical movies and featuring a playlist packed with songs from the musicals new and old, Box Office Radio’s shows include: The A to Z of Musical Theatre with Dean Winters; 10 Decades of Stage Musicals written and presented by theatre critic Paul Seven Lewis; The Stage Door hosted by musical theatre enthusiast Paul Lucas-Scott; and Disney Delights presented by primary school teacher James Kershaw.
The free App for Box Office Radio is available now from the App Store or Google Play, A ‘listen again’ service is also available via the website.
