Nigel Lindsay joins Guys and Dolls at the Phoenix

Actor Nigel Lindsay plays Nathan Detroit in Guys and Dolls at the Phoenix Theatre for a limited time

Nigel Lindsay will be joining the West End cast of Frank Loesser, Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows’ Guys and Dolls for a limited time at the Phoenix Theatre to play the part of Nathan Detroit.

Lindsay will take over from American star Richard Kind who will give his last performance as commitment-phobic gambler Detroit on 22 May.

The experienced British stage and screen performer, an Olivier Award nominee for his performance in the title role in the original West End production of Shrek the Musical, will take over the role from 26 May for a limited run until 26 June.

Lindsay will join a cast that includes Samantha Spiro as Miss Adelaide, Oliver Tompsett as Sky Masterson, Siubhan Harrison as Sarah Brown, Gavin Spokes as Nicely Nicely Johnson, Billy Boyle as Arvide and Jason Pennycooke as Benny, with the rest of the cast transferring from the Savoy Theatre: Lucy Jane Adcock, Abigail Brodie, Cornelius Clarke, Momar Diagne, Lavinia Fitzpatrick, Lorna Gale, Nic Greenshields, Selina Hamilton, Frankie Jenna, Alec Mann, Jacob Maynard, Genevieve Nicole, William Oxborrow, Max Parker, Carl Patrick, James Revell, Giovanni Spano, Jonathan Stewart, Lucie Mae Sumner and Liam Wrate.

Currently taking bookings until 30 October, Guys and Dolls is directed by Gordon Greenberg with choreography by Cuban dancer and former Royal Ballet star Carlos Acosta and Andrew Wright whose credits include Chichester Festival Theatre’s production of Singin’ in the Rain.

Director Greenberg is due to follow his Guys and Dolls success by taking his adaptation of Irving Berlin’s Holiday Inn to Broadway this October.
