Jodie Jacobs has been cast as Nancy in Oliver! as part of the Grange Park Opera Festival
The classic musical Oliver! will be the first of the four productions that will make up this year’s Grange Park Opera Festival at The Grange in Hampshire.
This year’s Swansong Festival begins on 2 June with the company’s version of Lionel Bart’s timeless re-working of Oliver Twist performed in the picturesque grounds of one of the most celebrated neo-classical mansions in Britain.
Staged by director Jean-Pierre Van der Spuy, the production will star baritone Simon Keenlyside as Fagin. Keenlyside will head a confirmed cast that includes Wesley Kent-Hargreaves (Oliver), Simon Lipkin (Bill Sykes), Jodie Jacobs (Nancy), Jeffrey Lloyd-Roberts (Mr Bumble), Charlie Barnard (Artful Dodger) and Sophie-Louise Dann (Widow Corney).
The creative team includes conductor Adam Rowe, designer Richard Kent, lighting designer David Platter and choreographer Lizzi Gee.
Oliver! will be the first production in a festival programme that features Puccini’s La Fanciulla; Verdi’s Don Carlo and a concert performance of Wagner’s Tristan & Isolde.
The festival which runs from 2 June until 16 July is set to be the last at the venue before Wasfi Kani’s acclaimed company moves to its new Surrey home, in the grounds of the 15th century West Horsley manor house in 2017.
