Ahead of Olivier Award winner Gavin Creel’s Singular Sensations appearance on 20 April at the Charing Cross Theatre, the actor and singer has revealed that fans can expect an exclusive treat – a performance of one his own tracks. This is a charity event in support of Creel’s nominated charity West End Serves and some of his fellow The Book of Mormon cast members will be on hand to help with a bucket collection at the end of the show.
Creel opened the US national tour of The Book of Mormon in the role of Elder Price. Other theatre credits includes: Hair (West End) and Mary Poppins (West End), Hair (Hirschfeld, Tony Award nomination), Thoroughly Modern Millie (Marquis, Tony Award nomination) and La Cage Aux Folles.
On 4 May Hannah Waddingham, star of Monty Python’s Spamalot in the West End and on Broadway, Kiss Me, Kate and A Little Night Music, will appear as the next celebrated artist in the series.
Waddingham most recently starred in A Little Hotel On the Side at the Theatre Royal, Bath after a successful run as the lead in Trevor Nunn’s production of Kiss Me, Kate at the Old Vic Theatre and Chichester Festival Theatre for which she received her third Olivier Award nomination.
The series sees West End stars join Edward Seckerson – former presenter of BBC Radio 3’s long-running musical theatre show Stage and Screen – for an intimate and in-depth exploration of their career. Through a mix of chat, recordings and live performances Seckerson has traced the careers and uncovered the working processes of talented artists such as Kerry Ellis, Howard Goodall, Janie Dee, Jenna Russell, John Wilson, Patricia Routledge and Stiles and Drewe who showcased new material at this Sunday afternoon fixture which has quickly become a must for musical theatre enthusiasts.
