Over 3,000 view the first In The Wings episode

Three thousand, four hundred people tuned in to view the first episode in the In The Wings series of shows featuring the first live performances in a theatre with a live band since the Covid-closedown.

Filmed from 3-6 June 2020 in strict accordance with social distancing rules, In The Wings, the four-part series of interviews and live entertainment focusing on composers, writers and creatives of four shows that had to be postponed due to Covid-19 launched on 12 June.

The first episode featured Olivier award-winning composer Richard Thomas in conversation with the creator of the song cycle No Limits along with  performances by Dougie Carter (Les Misérables, Sunset Boulevard), Aaron Lee Lambert (Hamilton, Miss Saigon), Steph Parry (42nd Street, Mamma Mia!) and Laura Pick (Wicked, The Sound of Music).

Each episode in the series features Thomas (Jerry Springer: The Opera, Made in Dagenham) in conversation with creatives from four new musicals – No Limits, Legends of Arahma, Gretel! and Dorian: A Rock Musical.

The second episode on 19 June will highlight composer Joe Purdue’s epic adventure, Legends of Arahma. Episode three will throw the spotlight on writer Liv Ward’s 1940s-set Gretel! and the fourth episode will feature musical director Henry Brennan discussing Dorian: A Rock Musical. With music and lyrics by Joe Evans, the musical inspired by Oscar Wilde’s novel The Picture of Dorian Gray was written by Linnie Reedman.

Every episode includes performances of songs from the four new shows along with songs from favourite West End hits. The series can be viewed HERE.

The creative team for the series is made up of co-producer and designer Justin Williams, co-producer and musical director Henry Brennan and video designer Ben Bull.
