Not-for-profit theatre company Perfect Pitch is partnering with online venue stream.theatre to present a regular monthly preview series spotlighting new British musicals and UK writing talent and featuring performances from West End stars.
Part of a drive to promote new contemporary musicals to a wider audience, each episode of Rise:Up will focus on a different new musical and will be streamed free of charge as part of the pre-show entertainment for all content. Previous episodes will then be made available On Demand on the platform and on the Rise:Up YouTube channel from 1 February 2021.
The first episodes throw the spotlight on Jack Godfrey’s 42 Balloons and P Burton Morgan, Pippa Cleary and Keiran Merrick’s In the Willows.
Inspired by the true story of an American couple, a lawn chair and 42 weather balloons, 42 Balloons features performances by Melanie La Barrie, Vicki Manser, Aaron Lee Lambert, Jack Shalloo, Georgie Westall, Madeline Charlemagne and Jake Halsey-Jones.
The episode focusing on In the Willows, the hip-hop musical re-working of the classic The Wind in the Willows includes guest performances by Tim Mahendran, Sharon Rose and Hiba Elchikhe.
February’s episode will focus on John-Victor and Tamar Broadbent’s immersive coming-of-age comedy Club Mex. CBBC regular Jade Johnson will revisit the central role she previously played in the 2019 world premiere of the Mexican flavoured musical at Manchester’s award-winning Hope Mill Theatre
Dedicated to creating new British musicals, Perfect Pitch was established in 2006 by independent producers Wendy and Andy Barnes. Launched in 2020, stream.theatre offers a digital stage for arts organisations, producers and artists to record, stream and host a wide variety of new pay-per-view streaming content.
