Peter Polycarpou’s homage to the 1920s Falling Stars will be streamed worldwide from 22-29 November 2020.
Starring Polycarpou (Man of La Mancha, London Coliseum, City of Angels, Donmar Warehouse) and Sally Ann Triplett (Finding Neverland, Broadway, Viva Forever, Piccadilly Theatre), the decision to take the musical revue online was created following the announcement of the November lockdown.
With the show’s performances at London’s Union Theatre now rescheduled to 9 and 10 January 2021, the story of a long-lost songbook uncovered in a London antique shop will be available to home viewers on the stream.theatre platform. Ticketholders for the original Union Theatre performances will be able to exchange for the new dates, switch to the streaming option, or receive a full refund.
Presented by Thomas Hopkins and Michael Quinn for Ginger Quiff Media in association with Guy Chapman and Bailey Harris-Kelly, tickets are available for the streamed performances at 7.30pm on each evening from 22-29 November (with extra shows on 28 and 29 November).
Announcing the digital production, Ginger Quiff Media’s Hopkins said: “We’re incredibly grateful to stream.theatre for stepping in to support us and facilitate our production.
“Once again this gives us hope in this crazy world that we are living in, that our theatrical community will come together to support each other through different mediums such as streaming, as the show must go on!”
Written and conceived by Polycarpou, Falling Stars features the music of Charlie Chaplin, Irving Berlin, Buddy DeSylva, Ray Henderson, Vincent Youmans, Carl Schraubstader, Arthur Freed and Meredith Willson.
Directed by Michael Strassen, the creative team also includes musical director and arranger Mark Dickman, associate director Paul Nicholas Dyke, lighting designer Andrew Exeter and production designer Jean Grey.
