Following 15 months at the Shaftesbury Theatre and a year at the Garrick Theatre, the producers of Rock of Ages the Musical have announced it is to close on 2 November 2013, prior to embarking on a UK national tour.
Rock of Ages the Musical opened on 31 August 2011 at the Shaftesbury Theatre and went onto win the 2011 BroadwayWorld ‘Best Musical’ West End Award. Since then it has since been seen by almost half a million people. The musical features some of the greatest hits of the 1980s, including ‘Wanted Dead or Alive’, ‘Don’t Stop Believin’, ‘Here I Go Again’ and ‘I Want to Know What Love Is’.
The cast features Tim Howar of Mike and the Mechanics as Stacee Jaxx, and also includes Ross Hunter (Drew), Daniel Fletcher (Dennis), Natalie Andreou (Sherrie), Simon Lipkin (Lonny), Rohan Tickell (Hertz), Rachel McFarlane (Justice/Mother), Jodie Jacobs (Regina/Candi), Sandy Moffat (Franz), Nathan Amzi (Mayor/Paul Gill), Dylan Turner (Joey Primo/Producer), Leanne Garretty (Young Groupie), Selina Hamilton (Constance), Carly Mercedes Dyer (Waitress), Grant Anthony, Scarlette Douglas, Cordelia Farnworth, Ian McIntosh and Andrew Spillett.
Rock of Ages the Musical is produced by Michael Cohl and Tony Smith, written by Chris D’Arienzo, directed by Kristin Hanggi and choreographed by Kelly Devine.
The musical is a celebration of Los Angeles rock culture. Set in 1987, a small town girl meets a big city rocker in LA’s most famous rock club and they fall in love to some of the most memorable songs of the decade.
