The movie adaptation of Dear Evan Hansen will premiere in cinemas on 24 September 2021 before being made available to stream on premium pay-per-view services in October.
Featuring Ben Platt reprising his Tony Award-winning performance in the title role, the star-studded cast for the eagerly-anticipated film includes Amy Adams, Julianne Moore, Kaitlyn Dever and Danny Pino.
Produced by Marc Platt and Adam Siegel, with the musical’s creators Benj Pasek and Justin Paul and book and screenplay writer Steven Levenson among the executive producers, the film is directed by Steven Chbosky. The movie will be distributed worldwide by Universal Pictures.
With a score by Tony, Grammy and Academy Award-winning composers Pasek and Paul, Dear Evan Hansen debuted on Broadway in 2016. A critic and crowd-pleasing success, the production collected six Tony Awards as well as the Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album.
Starring Sam Tutty, the Olivier Award-winning West End production had been playing to packed houses at the Noël Coward Theatre from October 2019 until the Covid closedown.
