Simply Gershwin, a celebration of the timeless works of George Gershwin will embark on a UK tour this autumn.
Acclaimed pianist Viv McLean will be joined by soprano Gweneth-Ann Jeffers and baritone Njabulo Madlala on the nine-date tour which begins at Leicester’s De Montfort Hall on 22 October.
Presented by leading music promoter Raymond Gubbay, the show will include classic orchestral compositions alongside a selection of much-loved songs written in collaboration with Gershwin’s lyricist brother, Ira.
Ageless pieces including ‘Rhapsody In Blue’, ‘Someone to Watch Over Me’, ‘It Ain’t Necessarily So’ and ‘Summertime’ from Porgy and Bess will be performed with orchestras including the London Concert Orchestra, the Manchester Concert Orchestra and the Scottish Concert Orchestra, depending on the venue’s location.
After playing the De Montfort Hall, the tour will move on to the Southend Cliffs Pavilion (23 October); The Bridgewater Hall, Manchester (6 November); the Symphony Hall, Birmingham (13 November); Glasgow Royal Concert Hall (18 November); Liverpool Philharmonic Hall (19 November); Nottingham Royal Concert Hall (23 November); The Anvil, Basingstoke (25 November); and Northampton Royal & Derngate (1 December).
