Musical phenomenon Six by Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss is to hold its first sing-along performance in its ‘forever home’ in the West End at the Vaudeville Theatre on 23 January 2022.
For many of Six’s enthusiastic fanbase, the temptation to join in with the show’s catchy hits like Catherine of Aragon’s ‘No Way’, Anna of Cleves’ ‘Get Down’, and the anthems ‘Ex-Wives’ and ‘Six’ can be almost unbearable. Now, for the first time in two years, audience members will be able to sing their hearts out to their favourite songs along with the cast, and without fear of upsetting the theatre noise police.
As with previous Six sing-along shows, the audience are being invited to come dressed as their favourite Tudor pop star from the show, or just dress to impress and one audience member will be crowned ‘Queen for the Night’ and receive a unique Singalong Six poster signed by the cast from that night’s show.
The current West End cast will remain in place until 14 November with an all-new cast due to take over from 16 November. The 2021/2022 UK touring production will continue simultaneously and the Broadway production has now resumed performances at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre.
Written by university friends Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, the musical which was nominated in 2017 for our inaugural Best Musical Award, puts the spotlight on the wives of Henry VIII as they form a 21st century girl band. The show’s first Arts Theatre run followed a successful return visit to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and a well-received four-date London run in January 2018.
Presented by Kenny Wax and Global Musicals, the show which features tracks including ‘Ex Wives’, ‘Haus of Holbein’ and ‘Don’t Lose Ur Head’, is directed by co-creator Moss and Jamie Armitage.
The creative team also includes choreographer Carrie-Anne Ingrouille and musical supervisor Joe Beighton, with set design by Emma Bailey, costume design by Gabriella Slade, lighting design by Tim Deiling, sound design by Paul Gatehouse and orchestrations by Tom Curran.
The Six studio album has attracted more than 200 million streams, making it the second highest streamed cast recording in the world, with the Hamilton original cast recording occupying the top spot.
