Crowd and critic-pleasing British musical Six is celebrating its first West End birthday at the Arts Theatre by announcing its third new booking period, taking the award-winning production’s run up to January 2021.
Over 90,000 extra tickets have been made available for the show which will welcome a new member of the regal line-up, Sophie Isaacs on 21 January. The Heathers star who played Goldilocks in the festive Palladium panto Goldilocks and the Three Bears steps into the role of Katherine Howard following the departure of Vicki Manser who has joined the tour of Beautiful – The Carole King Musical.
Isaacs will join Jarneia Richard-Noel (as Catherine of Aragon), Courtney Bowman (Anne Boleyn), Natalie Paris (Jane Seymour), Alexia McIntosh (Anna of Cleves), Danielle Steers (Catherine Parr), with Zara MacIntosh (Alternate Catherine of Aragon and Katherine Howard), Cherelle Jay (Alternate Anne Boleyn and Anna of Cleves), Hana Stewart (Alternate Jane Seymour and Catherine Parr) and Collette Guitart (dance captain/understudy).
Written by university friends Toby Marlow and Lucy Moss, the musical which was nominated in 2017 for our inaugural Best Musical Award, puts the spotlight on the Tudor King’s wives as they form a 21st century girl band. The show’s first Arts Theatre run followed a successful return visit to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and a well-received four-date London run in January 2018.
Presented by Kenny Wax and Global Musicals, the show which features tracks including ‘Ex Wives’, ‘Haus of Holbein’ and ‘Don’t Lose Ur Head’, is directed by co-creator Moss and Jamie Armitage. The creative team also includes choreographer Carrie-Anne Ingrouille and musical supervisor Joe Beighton, with set design by Emma Bailey, costume design by Gabriella Slade, lighting design by Tim Deiling, sound design by Paul Gatehouse and orchestrations by Tom Curran.
The Six studio album is currently storming the charts with 400,000 streams per day across the Spotify and Apple Music platforms. With over 90 million streams since its release, it is the second highest streamed theatre cast album in the world.
Six is the first musical from Marlow and Moss, two thirds of the award-winning theatre company Hot Gay Time Machine whose satirical show Hot Gay Time Machine was also a hit at the Edinburgh Fringe before playing a sold-out run at The Other Palace in 2018.
Six made its North American debut at the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre in May last year, the show’s eagerly-anticipated Broadway transfer at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre will begin in February. Prior to Broadway, the show also played limited engagements in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Edmonton, Canada and Saint Paul, Minnesota. Six will return to Chicago this summer for an open-ended run starting on 8 July.
With the nine-month Royal tour currently playing to packed houses across the UK, the show has also just made its Australian debut at the Sydney Opera House. Discussions are also under way for the show to head for Japan and South Korea.
