Song For Nature concert to be streamed on Stream.Theatre before COP26 gathering

The star-packed concert Song For Nature concert will be made available on Stream.Theatre for two nights only as a curtain raiser for the COP26 Climate Change Conference.

Aimed at raising awareness of climate change, the show which was first shown on Sky Arts to mark Earth Day on 22 April this year was filmed over three days at the London Coliseum.

Mixing music and dance with contributions from leading environmental activists, Song For Nature will stream on Stream.Theatre in the UK, on Broadway and in China on 28 and 29 October 2021.

Presented by The London Climate Change Festival, the concert was envisioned by the former artistic director of Shakespeare’s Globe, Dominic Dromgoole with the performance content directed by Bill Buckhurst and the television capture directed by Ross MacGibbon. Musical direction is by Stephen Higgins, with lighting design by Paul Anderson and sound design by Paul Smith. The television capture was originally produced by Stream.Theatre.

The concert was the first high profile event for The London Climate Change Festival which was created by award-winning actress Janie Dee and had been due to run for eight weeks in early 2020.

Dee appears in the concert alongside Sheila Atim, Rob Brydon, Danielle De Niese, Kerry Ellis, Nathan Evans, Gerald Finely, Akram Khan, Jonah Hauer King, Sam Lee, London Voices, Brian May, Beth Porch, Marcelino Sambé, David Suchet and Michelle Terry. The show also features a new company of young musical stars singing Stephen Sondheim’s ‘Our Time’ and a special version of Kander and Ebb’s ‘Yes, Say Yes’ with revised lyrics performed by Dee and endorsed by John Kander.

Commenting on the encore screening of the concert, Dee said: “We thrilled to be able to share Song For Nature with a wider audience. We originally intended to play to a live audience at the Coliseum, but then the second lockdown struck. Nevertheless, the show went on regardless being captured for broadcast by Sky Arts, and now, with a couple of previously unseen performances added, will be hosted on Stream.Theatre for two nights only. We hope you can join us to raise awareness of the impact of climate change around the world.”
