Musical theatre fans will be able to celebrate their favourite theatrical genre in the company of a host West End stars this autumn at the first West End Musical Con.
The latest event from the team behind the popular West End Musical Drive-In and West End Musical Celebration, will turn ExCel London into a haven for musical theatre-lovers on 22 and 23 October 2022.
West End favourites Aimee Atkinson, Kerry Ellis, Alice Fearn, Ben Forster, Jodie Steele, Trevor Dion Nicholas, Omari Douglas, Shanay Holmes, Jenna Russell and Layton Williams will be ambassadors for the event which will offer fans the opportunity to meet the stars, celebrate the shows they love, and even take part in an epic cosplay competition.
Commenting on the event, ambassador Ellis said: “It’s such a fantastic idea. I don’t know why it hasn’t been done before.” Fellow ambassador Forster added: “This is our chance to say thank you to everyone who has ever bought a ticket to see us in a show.” A sentiment echoed by ambassador Layton Williams, who said: “This is from us. For the fans. It’s a place you can come, be fabulous, be free, and be yourself.”
Over 30 special guest stars have already confirmed they will be in attendance during the weekend which will feature unique performances on the Main Stage, surprise cast reunions, interviews, Q&As, panel discussions and interactive show experiences.
With more special guests to be announced in the months ahead, the current line-up includes queenly supergroup SVN (Millie O’Connell, Natalie May Paris, Grace Mouat, Alexia McIntosh, Jarneia Richard-Noel, Maiya Quansah-Breed), Kelly Agbowu, Jocasta Almgill, Luke Bayer, Nikki Bentley, Lauren Byrne, Maddison Bullyment, Tarinn Callender, Lauren Drew, Hiba Elchikhe, Emma Hatton, Sophie Isaacs, Cassidy Janson, Aisha Jawando, Idriss Kargbo, Emma Kingston, Bobby Little, Carl Mann, Jason Pennycooke, Laura Pick, Karl Queensborough, Jon Robyns, Sharon Rose, Charlie Stemp, Ivano Turco, Michael Xavier and Mitch Zhangazha.
As with all genre fan conventions, the event will include a marketplace packed with merchandise and memorabilia. Fans will also be able to take part in masterclasses and even take a break at a musical theatre-themed café.
Commenting on the packed programme, ambassador Fearn said: “There will be so much to see. So much to do. It’s going to be great!” Fellow ambassador Russell added: “Let’s celebrate the joy that is musical theatre!”
West End Musical Productions is organising Musical Con with the support of the Society of London Theatre (SOLT).
