Student newcomer Daisy Greenwood wins Lambert Jackson competition to perform in There’s Nothin’ Like a Dame

Seventeen-year-old student Daisy Greenwood has won the chance to perform alongside established West End stars in There’s Nothin’ Like a Dame – 100 Years of Women in Musical Theatre, a celebration of the genre’s female characters at Cadogan Hall later this month.

The launch production from new musical theatre production company Lambert Jackson will feature Greenwood, the winner of the company’s competition to find a future musical theatre star, alongside a quartet of popular West End leading ladies, will play the London venue on 30 August 2018.

Taking to the stage for one night to perform some of the genre’s most famous female-centric songs, will be: Louise Dearman (Grease, Victoria Palace/UK tour, Guys and Dolls, Piccadilly Theatre/UK tour); Ria Jones (Sunset Boulevard, UK tour, Chess, Prince Edward Theatre); Alexia Khadime (The Book of Mormon, Prince of Wales Theatre, The Lion King, Lyceum Theatre); and Rachel Tucker (Wicked, West End/Broadway, We Will Rock You, Dominion Theatre).

Commenting on her involvement in the show, Greenwood, who is currently studying musical theatre at the Colchester Institute close to her home in Tiptree, said: “I am absolutely over the moon to have been given the opportunity to perform alongside women who have inspired me to want to work in musical theatre.”

A statement from Lambert Jackson announcing the latest addition to their launch show’s cast of formidable females read: “We are absolutely thrilled to have Daisy joining our fabulous cast of incredible performers for this wonderful show. Daisy, whilst young, displayed a level of maturity in her performance far beyond her years. We were transfixed from the moment we watched her. She is a future star, and exactly what this competition was all about.”

The show will feature a mix of classics from the timeless shows of Rodgers and Hammerstein to more recent works by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Stephen Schwartz.

Dedicated to producing musical theatre-themed shows, Lambert Jackson has been founded by CEO Jamie Lambert, who first attracted attention as part of Britain’s Got Talent 2014 winners Collabro and creative director Eliza Jackson, who recently the premieres her one-woman show Voice Behind the Stars at The Other Palace ahead of a run at Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

Commenting on the company first show, Lambert said: “We feel like this is the year of the woman and so it seems the perfect moment for There’s Nothin’ Like a Dame, which will be a glorious celebration of women in musicals over the past 100 years. This is our debut production and we can’t wait to show fans of musical theatre what more we have planned. Coming from a performance background, we are determined to be a company who are fair, who look after their performers and who put on fantastic, creative and beautiful shows.”
