Gloria Onitiri joins the cast of The Stripper at St James Studio

Casting has been announced for the revival of musical whodunnit The Stripper, will open at London’s St James Studio next month.

Hannah Grover (The Toxic Avenger), Gloria Onitiri (The Bodyguard), Marc Pickering (The Toxic Avenger), Michael Steedon (Hairspray) and Sebastien Torkia (Travels With My Aunt) began rehearsals for the show this week.

Based on the pulp fiction story by Carter Brown, with music and lyrics by Rocky Horror creators Richard Hartley and Richard O’Brien, The Stripper will play the venue from 7 July until 13 August.

Part of the St James Theatre’s summer and autumn programme, The Stripper is directed by Benji Sperring with set and costume design by Tim Shortall, choreography by Lucie Pankhurst, musical direction and arrangements by Alex Beetschen and lighting design by Nick Farman. The Stripper is presented by Niall Bailey and Chris Wheeler for Scala Theatre Ltd.

The production is sponsored by award-winning vintage clothing store Vivien of Holloway which will also supply a number of the 1960s inspired costumes.

The Stripper was first staged at the Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch on 28 August 2009.
