The Wedding Singer tour – more casting details

Based on the much-loved 1998 film which starred Adam Sandler as the lovelorn Robbie Hart and Drew Barrymore as Julia, the waitress who captures his heart, the touring production will feature West End favourites Jon Robyns (Legally Blonde) and Cassie Compton (American Psycho).

They will be joined on stage by Dancing on Ice: Champion of Champions and one-time soap star Ray Quinn (Grease) as Robbie’s love rival Glenn and another former soap star Roxanne Pallett (The Rocky Horror Picture Show) playing Julia’s best friend Holly.

Stage and screen veteran Ruth Madoc will take on the role of Grandma Rosie for most of the tour, with Rab C Nesbitt actress Barbara Rafferty stepping into the role for the Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Inverness dates.

Robbie’s ex-fiancée Linda will be played by Tara Verloop (Dirty Dancing) for the majority of the tour, with Nadia Forde stepping into the role for the show’s Dublin run. Samuel Holmes (Mrs Henderson Presents) has been cast in the role of the Boy George-obsessive George, the role played by the late Alexis Arquette in the hit film.

The confirmed cast also includes: Paris Green, Hannah Jay-Allen, Susie Fenwick, Helen Walsh, Eamonn Cox, Simon Anthony, Ainsley Hall-Ricketts, Andrew Carthy, Mark Pearce, Ryan-Lee Seager and Erin Bell.

Directed and choreographed by Nick Winston, The Wedding Singer 2017 UK tour features set and costumes by Francis O’Connor, with musical supervision by Sarah Travis, musical direction and orchestration by George Dyer, lighting design by Ben Cracknell, sound design by Richard Brooker, video design by Jack Henry James and casting by Jim Arnold.

The Wedding Singer is produced by Dan Looney, Paulden Hall Productions, Tom O’Connell, Jason Haigh-Ellery and Tim Lawson.

With music by Matthew Sklar and lyrics by Chad Beguelin who also wrote the book with the writer of the original film Tim Herlihy, The Wedding Singer musical debuted on Broadway in 2006 and previously toured the UK in 2008.
