The Society of London Theatre (SOLT) has released a new statement on behalf of the major commercial West End theatre operators and the Society of Ticket Agents and Retailers (STAR) stating that the theatre shutdown has been extended up to and including 31 May 2020.
Apologising for the decision to cancel all performances until June at the earliest, SOLT appealed to customers for patience as box offices and ticket agents work towards contacting all ticket-holders to discuss refund options.
Giving an insight into enormity of the task the statement went on to note that an average of 300,000 people a week usually attend West End theatres.
Ticketholders will be contacted in performance date order to arrange an exchange for a later date, credit note or refund. Anyone with tickets for performances after 31 May are being asked not to try contacting theatres or ticket agents.
