Comedian and presenter Tom Allen will join the cast of the Olivier Award-winning West End run of the hit New York musical comedy Titanique for six weeks this spring.
Best known for his work on hit TV shows including The Apprentice: You’re Fired and Bake Off: The Professionals, Allen will step into the role of Ruth from 4 March until 12 April.
Commenting on his latest venture, Allen said: “I saw this show when it first opened and I loved it so much I had to see it again almost immediately. The laughs and camp spoofing are addictive and exactly what the world needs right now. I am beyond honoured to be joining this extremely talented cast and can’t wait to come aboard for my life boat drill! Wait, they do have enough lifeboats right?”
Presented by Eva Price and Michael Harrison, the production currently stars Luke Bayer (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, RENT) as Jack, Richard Carson (Les Misérables, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat) as Cal, Ryan Carter (Bat Out of Hell) as The Iceberg, Rose Galbraith (13 Going on 30) as Rose, Astrid O’Leary (Titanique, Théâtre du Lido, Paris) as Céline Dion, Carl Mullaney (La Cage aux Folles, Les Misérables) as Ruth, Michael Vinsen (The Book of Mormon) as Victor Garber/Luigi and Charlotte Wakefield (Spring Awakening) as Molly Brown,
The company is completed by onstage background vocalists Corrine Priest (Sister Act The Musical), Madison Swan (We Will Rock You) and Damien Winchester (Aladdin) and offstage understudies Freddie King (Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, Union Theatre), Caitlin Tipping (SIX, Frozen the Musical) and standby David Ouch (Moulin Rouge! The Musical).
The critic and crowd-pleasing musical inspired by James Cameron’s Oscar-winning 1997 film, sailed into the Criterion Theatre last December. Co-written by Tye Blue, Marla Mindelo and Constantine Rousouli and directed by Blue, the musical re-imagines the doomed cinematic romance of Rose and Jack being hi-jacked by the voice of Titanic, Céline Dion.
Titanique premiered Off-Broadway at the Asylum Theater in June 2022 with co-authors Mindelle and Rousouli playing Céline Dion and Jack Dawson. An instant hit with audiences, and following a number of sold-out extensions, the musical transferred to the Daryl Roth Theatre in November 2022.
The winner of the 2025 Olivier Award for Best New Comedy in the UK, the musical won seven major awards during the 2022/23 theatre season in the US, including three Lucille Lortel Awards, the Off-Broadway Alliance Award for Best New Musical, Las Culturistas’ Culture Award for Best Indoor Performance and two Dorian Awards.
Titanique is choreographed by Ellenore Scott with music supervision, arrangements and orchestrations by Nicholas James Connell, scenic design by Gabriel Hainer Evansohn and Grace Lauchbacher for Iron Bloom Creative Production, costume design by Alejo Vietti, lighting design by Paige Seber, sound design by Lawrence Schober and casting by Pearson Casting
