Blackpool’s Winter Gardens has announced three major musical productions for the Opera House’s 2016 season.

The hugely successful Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat will arrive in February, followed by Blood Brothers in April, and a brand new touring production of Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage in August.

Commenting on the news, the Winter Gardens’ managing director Michael Williams said: “We are delighted to be announcing these three shows today. Joseph and Blood Brothers have been to the Opera House on a number of occasions and are always incredibly popular. Dirty Dancing has enjoyed great success across the globe and this will be the first time Blackpool audiences get to see this fantastic new production.”

Bill Kenwright’s production of Joseph marks a quick return to the Opera House stage for the show’s leading man, Joe McElderry. The former X Factor and Pop Star to Operastar winner starred in the title role in the recent revival of Tommy when it played the venue last month.

He said: “I’m thrilled to be coming to Blackpool Opera House as part of the Joseph tour. I’ve just spent three weeks there and so can’t wait to go back next February. I was delighted when I was offered the role and to be visiting a town where I know family audiences love to come and see shows is fantastic.”

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat will play Blackpool from 9 to 13 February 2016; Blood Brothers will run from 4 to 9 April 2016; and Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage will run from 11 to 30 August 2016.
